about

Between Two Worlds - 58" x 72" - oil on canvas - 2010

A native of Ireland, long-term transplant to the U.S. and San Francisco-based abstract artist.  I began a daily practice of oil painting in 2002 in a renovated victorian coach house studio in Dublin. Ireland. My first solo exhibit was held at the Davis Gallery in Dublin, in 2003. I have not exhibited my work since 2010, although I have retained a studio space. August of 2016 I started working from my Excelsior studio on a new series of paintings, see work.

Between 1997-2002 I worked in the motion picture camera department as a camera assistant and aspiring cinematographer working in San Francisco, L.A. and later in Ireland. I worked on commercials, shorts, and one low budget feature length film 'Winters End' - (won Best Picture" 2005 Hollywood dv Film Festival). Cinematography and painting are conceptually very similar but have quite obviously vastly different processes and parameters involved. Ultimately painting is what speaks to me the most, although I will always have a deep love for cinematography.

Upcoming 2017 exhibitions will be announced here, and by email; please don't hesitate to contact me so I can add your name to the news and invitation mailing list.
